My DD has a similar build and when TYR or Speedos looked "too much like practice suits", we got the printed Jolyn tie-back one-pieces. The ties make it easy to adjust the chest fit once you get a torso/bottom fit that works.
Other suits that fit thin kids are surf brands like Roxy two-pieces (not one pieces, those are weirdly wide) or O'Neill one-pieces. It can take a little work to find the right size in those but they seem to be cut smaller and I can often find inexpensive ones in the off-season. |
| We’ve had luck with Lands End suits for my skinny 8yo. |
| Another vote for Speedo. Fits my tall, thin 8yo well. |
| Try Athleta—sometimes they have really good sales on kids swimwear. |
| Brands like Mini Boden and Gap have sizes like 8-9, 9-10. |
| Some clothing brands have 9-10 years sizing and I found it best when my kids were getting too big for 7/8 and too small for 10/12. Cotton On kids, Abercrombie kids, and H&M sell swimsuits with that size. |
| My DD10 has a speedo and it's fits well for her skinny frame |
| Agree with those that suggested Lands End. You buy tops and bottoms separately, and they have slim sizes in a lot of the pieces. |

Lands End is super slim, but the quality is junk.
Agree that Speedo and Tyr are great for slim kids, but my slim daughter started requesting around 11 to not look like she was going to swim practice whenever she was at the pool. We found a brand called Kanu on amazon that seems to work for a lot of body types. Not every suit fits the slim girls, but some of them do. |
Gosh, that hasn't been our experience at all! We've been happy with the Lands' End suits we've bought and have been able to use them for multiple seasons. |
| Find a brand with narrower size bands. Abercrombie kids is one. Athleta isn’t narrower but they have a size 8-10 |
