Fire, bathroom, other needs. Why board at that point? Just have a dog walker come.

Because some dogs don't want to be alone that long?

+1. I have cats, not dogs, but we’ve always used Olde Towne in Sterling and I have no complaints.

I'm surprised people board their cats since cats are more comfortable at home.

Pender Pet Resort does and they also have their vet offices next door on the property. We boarded there once and it seemed like a clean property and well run. The outdoor time for the dogs isn't terribly long, though. Our dog was pretty young at the time and we had the option of a 10 pm potty break before bedtime.

We visited Healthy Hounds in Sterling and didnt' like it at all. Their outdoor space is the roadside grass and the doggy daycare area stunk. Maybe they all do, but I felt like I needed a shower after leaving there.

Dog's Day Farm in Gaithersburg has somebody with the dogs 24/7, not just "on premises". The dogs are never in crates or kennels or suites.

I think they really do all stink. I’m just not sure you can have concentrated dogs and not have it smell really bad, especially stressed dogs.

Healthy Hound Sterling and Rockville has 24/7 staff onsite. Our pup seems to be happy there.

Depends on the cat. One of mine does not do well being left alone for long periods of time, especially overnight. Since my DH is not on board with a live in pet sitter, the boarding facility it is.

Another vote for Old Town. We've had multiple dogs there and they do a good job.

Which one in DC?
