NVSL: Worst pool for hosting a meet?

Oakton- their pool is so damn shallow and they don't even take the time to fill it to the top. Kids have to dive into an area that is dangerously shallow.

We had a meet at another pool years ago and swimmers were getting DQd for pushing off the bottom at the turn because it's pretty hard for a kid who is over 6 ft to turn in 2.5 feet of water.

YES. We were in the league with Dunn Loring in 2021, and our older boys were coming out from their races with red chests from scraping the bottom of the pool on their entry dives. Also, the Dunn Loring pool board made the visiting team parents sit completely outside the swim club chain link fence to watch the meet "because of COVID" even though the Dunn Loring parents were allowed to sit inside the Dunn Loring team area with their kids to watch the meet-- which also happened to completely block the view of the pool for the visiting team parents. The idea that you could stop the spread of COVID by keeping only the visiting parents outside of a chain link face was just ridiculous-- it seemed to be an excuse for deliberately saving the best viewing location for their own club members. Worst pool we've ever swam against.

Yes - terrible pool.

Such a pool just shouldn’t host individual divisional events because parking’s hard.

pool great, and we personally had no parking problem, but they warned us that neighbors would call the cops, and they did during the meet. Announcers let us know to check parking and the recs on driveways.

I should add that yes, the police came during our meet, so they were right to warn and it was nice of the officer to try to warn people before ticketing

And they hosted all stars. If the neighborhood doesn't like it, why are they hosting these huge meets?

When did they host all stars? it has been springboard and then Orange hunt.

DP
Springboard and OH have only been the past few years. LRR hosted a few years prior. We parked at the HS and walked over.

Brookfield. Terrible visiting team area and unfriendly team reps.

Mantua. My friend videoed it- swimmers are pushed towards one side because of the wake. It was very surprising to see it race after race.

That is unbelievable. The best seats should be given to the visiting pool, not the home team (this is how we do it). And the host parents should be working the meet and not need the seats.

NP, and IMO there are no “good” seats at Dunn Loring so I really don’t care where the home parents sit. I sit all the way in the back and read a book when we swim there, and just get up to watch DC race. Which she hates because the pool is so shallow at the dive end.

At our first B meet there during COVID parents from both teams were allowed inside the fence, but you had to sign up because they limited numbers and wanted to be able to do contact tracing if necessary.

As far as the OPs question, for me it’s Donaldson Run. Terrible spectator seating, a serious lack of parking, and horrendous up charge on concessions (I expect teams to make money on sales but this was ridiculous and everyone noticed/commented).

I like the seating at Donaldson Run. It's a big hill and you can easily see the races. Maybe they could terrace it so it was more comfortable?
