Which of the top 25 are known for being party schools?

DS attends a top 15 school that is one of the few T15 schools with a bit of party reputation. (I can think of two such schools, others can chime in)

Here's the deal OP: in 2023-24, the kids who've killed themselves for 6-8 straight years to gain admission to a very top school ... are not partiers. The student bodies of _today's_ Cornell or Penn or JHU or Vanderbilt are packed to the rafters with striving, achievement-driven 20 years olds. It's really difficult to maintain the life of organic chem/original research/programming while getting loudly sh!tfaced drunk several nights a week

Do some kids at my kid's top school party, sometime? yes, according to DS, but not in enough numbers to affect the overall somber, serious, driven vibe in the residential halls and after-hours campus.

Ooof. Sounds a bit depressing. Somber? Not to romanticize the “old days,” but…high achieving kids used to know how to cut loose & have fun.

If willing to attend a LAC, Wellesley has virtually no partying on campus. If desired, students can go to MIT frats. Town of Wellesley is a dry town.

Most top 20 schools have a big frat scene if you’re looking for it. But you don’t have to join and my kids didn’t.

Eh. Thursday to Sunday according to my kid. Students are pretty disciplined. As someone else noted, they're grinders. Your average Duke or Vandy student is not flunking out because of partying.

Anecdotally, it's the MIT kids that go hard

A lot of people confuse a desire to avoid partying with an interest in only studying and not cutting loose and having fun. Pomona College, for instance, is known as a bit more chill and students do cut loose and enjoy the outdoors, but they aren't as interested in the loud, crowded, drinking and drugs infested scenes of the stereotypical party, which doesn't allow as much opportunities to talk and socialize with other people, but are more about feeding off the energy of the crowd. So, you can be introvert or an extrovert and not study all the time, but you're ideal school would be different..

For an introvert interested in less partying and more chill socializing, there are lots of options at any big school, but places like Pomona, Haverford, Macalester might fit the bill.

They’re all party schools really. Maybe if your child can live at home they can avoid it, but that is pretty much the only way.
