There is more to a hospital tour than just the facility, which I what I was hoping to get out of Georgetown. I want to know their policies and procedures. My friends in other states got tours with useful information about hospital rules and were able to plan ahead.

Are you taking a birth class at the hospital? This is where you are going to find out about policies and procedures in my experience. Not a hospital tour.

Go take a birthing class offered through the hospital. Why do you think you need a specific tour?

OP here again. unless someone has unearthed some new info, Georgetown doesn’t offer any birthing classes.

OP, not sure why people are being a jerk about this. I found the hospital tour with my first really helpful--getting a visualization was just comforting and I also got a taste of how aggressive the lactation consultants would be. I'll be going on a tour before my second is born (different hospital) as well.

I'd be irritated too.

Count me among the people who think tours are pretty useless but if you're someone who needs to picture yourself in the space I think that is fine too. And you should consider this a sign maybe GT isn't the right fit for you. They don't owe anyone tours, especially in this post COVID ward where letting unnecessary people into L&D could increase exposure.

I think you're getting pushback because it sounds like you feel entitled to a tour. You're entitled to check into all local hospitals and see what they offer and make a choice based on that information. You have information from GT in that they are not the kind of hospital that think tours are important. My experience is that you basically stay in your room! And the food there was meh.

Good luck! I wish you an eventful free and birth and a healthy baby.
