What little thing do you appreciate about your kid's teacher?

I appreciate teachers who spell my child's name correctly. I appreciate teachers for their education and experience and how they bring the breadth of their experiences into the classroom to create engaging experiences. I also truly love when teachers have high standards, clear expectations, and are warm demanders.

The 1st grade teacher noticed my DC’s very quiet and wouldn’t say a word when other kids said bad things to or treated my DC unkind (bumped my DC away from bathroom line, laughed and said nasty things to my DC during recess and more) and always tried to protect my DC and chat with my DC. During the pandemic year my DC just couldn’t talk or answer anything during the virtual class. We didn’t know how many days the 3rd grade teacher tried to spent after school hours to talk to my DC alone and gradually helped DC to finally started talking and participated in virtual class. DC’s 5th grade teacher’s very kind and caring to DC and let me know DC’s improved a lot ( slowly opened up). We could see DC’s becoming better each day thanks to all the good teachers have helped my DC.

My DD's K teacher is so special her. This teacher invites former students to do lunch bunches, stops by after care on their way out to say hi/bye to former students, invites former students to read to their class, etc.

My daughter’s second grade teacher is so kind and patient. I worry that she’s setting the bar too high for my daughter’s future teachers.

The teacher lets my daughter be herself, and seems to like this anxiety filled ADHD child who is both wonderful and A LOT. When something goes wrong, the teacher problem solves and discusses calmly and assures us they can work through it.

They let us know when things are going well, they celebrate all the accomplishments, they have lunch bunches. They clearly LIKE children, which sadly hasn't been the case with all of our teachers.

Our teacher talked my son down when he was going into a panic about i-Ready. She is so soothing and calm which is just what he needs. She communicates all the time with parents.
One thing I really appreciated is she picked a wide variety of novels to read together as a class and alternates books that mainly appeal to girls vs. boys.

I too appreciate when teachers can spell words like "Sara" and "Jack" and also the part where they are warm bodies in the classroom who also breathe.

My child's 4th grade teacher last year left for a different school system at the end of last year but created a new email address so that kids could email her to keep in touch. She is also coming to their 5th grade "graduation" this year. My daughter feels like she won the teacher lottery last year.
