NCSA Age Group or Zones? Which is the "better" meet

Does your kid want to travel with his coaches and teammates? LC Zones, kid is really on own. LSC Coaches are nice but my kid has never felt like they got helpful coaching (but on the other hand, cool to meet other coaches). My kid has also enjoyed getting to know new swimmers at Zones, who they often see at big meets and finals. But cool to have big travel meet with teammates who you know well.

LC Zones is back in Richmond so will be a much cheaper trip than Florida, most likely, if cost is a factor.

Does your kid prefer the LC or SC pool? Are they closer to a next-level cut (ie, sectionals) in one or the other?

OP here These are really good points, thank you so much- much faster SC swimmer right now, very very close to sectionals cuts (less than .10 off in one, less than a second off in two others) hunting Futures cuts in their best event (they are 14) so even though Richmond is much cheaper, NCSA age group might be better. Thank you for these questions though, they really did help clarify the thinking on it!!!

To clarify - do people swim NCSAs and short course Zones in the same March?

Maybe there are some that have, but most would pick just one.
