Recommendations on book gifts for teens?

If you are considering buying books as a gift to nieces and nephews(or similar) with no firm notion if they are readers or what they like- just give a Barnes and Noble gift card and a bookmark.

The two books that I read this year that made me think “a teen would probably enjoy this”: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (slightly older) and Ten Thousand Doors of January (more for any age).

If they’d be into a combination of mystery and historical fiction, I also enjoyed the Truly Devious series by Maureen Johnson (about high school students, twisty plot but ok for any age that can follow it). All three books tell a single story, so you’d want to buy all 3 together for that one.
