Pandora Charm Bracelets?

Don't the two of you belong on the thread where they're cutting up Dorreen Gentzler's on air wardrobe? After all, aren't beads small fries for you pop culture fashionistas? You both just wasting your talents here. Upgrade for chrissakes.

NP here. It's a bracelet. Why so nasty? Really, take it down a couple notches. You'll feel better. Have you been in D.C. too long?

I got one of these from my MIL nearly two years ago, and she's bought me charms for it since, but I must confess that I have NEVER worn it once. I should probably sell it...just not my style. To me it feels like the equivalent of the newest fad bracelets that grade-school girls wear.

OP, sorry that your discussion got taken off track! I just got one too and did some googling, these folks in Michigan have a decent guide to building your own and and an interactive builder thing

They look like something someone would wear if they shopped at Chico's. Throw in a Vera Bradley bag and maybe some Brighton sunglasses and you're all set to visit the grandkids!

Thanks a lot. My DH bought me one (bracelet and necklace) and I was happy with it. Actually, I have a very stylish friend (buys clothes in Paris, Milan, etc.) who always looks nice and she wears one, so I'm choosing to believe that you are just bitter, insecure and judgmental and I'm going to continue to wear mine happily.

No you aren't.

You are defesive and upset that someone characterized it as "frumpy and old" which makes me think you are very worried about what others think and can't wear it happily without wondering if someone is judging you.

Signed,
A Vera Bradley bag carrier - who really doesn't care if it makes her look like grandma or stupid or silly, etc...

As a matter of fact, I wore it happily today -- and got a complement on the necklace!

From your grandma, no doubt.

As a matter of fact, my grandmother is dead. Thanks a lot.

And? So is mine.

Just googled this bracelet. They are pretty expensive. Why would one buy a commercialized, one-stop-shop charm bracelet? It is SO much more fun to buy a gold link bracelet and add charms from all over the world over the years. I started my charm bracelet in 5th grade!! I have swapped out many charms over the years, leaving some of the originals and buying new ones. I have charms from Italy, France, Cape Cod, New York, graduations, my golden birthday, etc.

It seems like this Pandora takes all the fun out of it. Plus, they aren't my style and don't seem to have broad appeal. Meaning, the bracelet cannot really change with your style. I like that I can stick with my traditional charms or add more modern ones depending on my current style.

The European bead bracelet is a Danish trend that's recently made its way over here. I think it has broad appeal. I know lots of high school girls who have them. I've got them (since my 30s). And my mother's generation is just getting into them. They are made out of very high quality materials and are very durable and long lasting. I have 3 bracelets that have different looks, from casual to very dressy. And tons of extra beads that I switch out when I feel like it, which changes the whole look. One bracelet has a lot of meaning to me, but the other two are just for looks.

Could you provide a link to see the bracelet you are referencing?

Thanks!

No kidding. I felt less silly wearing DS's Silly Bandz (or whatever those dumb animal rubber band bracelets are called) recently when he asked me to wear them during his lax game.

Any of the major brands: Troll, Pandora, Chamilia, Biagi...These are Pandora:

I think Trollbeads (the original Danish company) are cute. I also don't care what other people think about what I wear--especially in DC.

While I am not a big fan of Pandora bracelets, so what if others want to wear them? At the end of the day, is a proliferation of Pandora bracelets and Vera Bradley bags any different than Tory Burch flats or Burberry trenches? I don't own any of these, but don't begrudge family and friends who do. One PP could just not let it go, even invoking someone's grandmother.

Sure - my bracelet just broke. What kind of charms/beads do you have?
