| Kid? |
| Dai sounds more like the shortened name that Mom uses when asking you to unload the dishwasher rather. My name is Tina. My family calls me Tin (Teen?) very often but would never introduce me that way. |
|
My mother-in-law will occasionally call my DH “day” - short for David.
I’d never heard it as a nickname for David until her. Everyone else calls him Dave. |
Should be Dye so its her own thing: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Dai |
| How the hell do you pronounce this? Sounds like you're trying to out-clever everyone else. |
| Seems fine to me but I’ve heard it before as a welsh nickname. People can get used to anything. If someone can call their kid Tripp or Trey, you can call your kid Dai. |

I don't love Dai/Day. Hey Day!
Most David's know are called David, which I like a lot. |
Pronounced “day” or “die”. I like die - sounds like Kai. |
| I'd pronounce it "dye" like you pronounce dai in Italian, meaning "come on!" |
| Just call him David. Why does it need a nickname? |
| My granddad was David and people called him Dev |
| No, just no. |
| My brother was a David and from teens on into adulthood most people called him Davo. |
| That poor kid will be spelling his name his entire life if you go with Dai. |
