Handbag trends in high school?

I want to get my step daughter a handbag for Christmas. I can't afford something like Dooney and Bourke, etc., and was wondering if there was a style or a brand that teens preferred in the $50 - $75 range. Are hobo bags "in" or crossover bags? Leather or nylon? Tignanello or Lucky or Anne Klein?

They don't use handbags that much since no one takes one to school. I'd go for a Coach wristlet. If she's preppy maybe a vineyard vines tote bag.

I second the Coach wristlet, or maybe one of the slightly larger ones that hold a little more than just phone and cash. I use my wristlet as a wallet all the time because I can just pull it put of my purse.
