Which Kid-safe E-mail Account to Choose?

Anonymous
(Sorry I didn't check archives for this, DCUM is coming up soooo slow for me the last couple of days....) Can anyone recommend a kid-safe e-mail account? When I google it there are dozens to choose from. I'm willing to pay a bit for it, since I prefer zero advertising. My DS is 7 and has some overseas "penpals." Any advice welcome!

We do gmail, but DH and I have DD's to and from messages synced to our BB - its our "filter" and our way to make sure she is only in contact with peers - not internet strangers.

I don't find the advertising to be a problem... DD knows not to click on links etc.

I thought that there are laws about soliciting children under 13 so you can't have an email account in the name of child under that age.

What sort of weird post is this? You obviously have an email account via the internet provider.

My kids each have one of the 6 emails that come with our internet service (earthlink) They all come into Outlook on the home computer but funnel into their individual folders. Naturally I monitor them.

To be honest, kids email very little these days. By the time they are old enough to want to communicate with friends, the kids either text or Facebook. Many 12 year olds have facebook.

My 14 year old has not used his email in 2 years. Any messages are setup via groups in Facebook for teams.
