tangled hair in the winter

Anonymous
I've had a sweatshirt on the last two days. My long hair got so tangled I cannot brush it while it's dry.

How do you keep your hair tangle free while wearing sweaters/jackets?

Not sure why a sweater or jacket would make your hair more tangled than usual.

Trying really hard not to be snarky here. My apologies if I fail.

Use enough conditioner that your hair doesn't dry out.

If you are somewhere windy, braid it so it doesn't fly all over the place and knot itself up.

J&J's No More Tangles spray and Aussie Hair Insurance spray help loosen up the knots so you can comb them out.

Moroccan Hair Oil helps keep hair from getting knotted up (also seems to stay clean longer, oddly enough).

Brush your hair before going to bed and again in the morning. As I tell my 5 YO, the more often you brush it, the less it hurts b/c the knots haven't had the chance to get big.

OP here: I realized after reading my post that I sound like I don't brush my hair, but I was serious when I said that it tangles more with sweaters/sweatshirts. A huge knot will form at the base so you can't really see it. And if I'm out all day I find it hard trying to brush it often.

Thanks for the suggestion on the moroccan hair oil - haven't heard of it before so perhaps it's time to try it. I already use plenty of conditiner, but obviously not enough.

OP, I get that dread knot thing going (on the underside of my hair in the back) when my hair hasn't been cut in a long time and the ends are trashed. Maybe it's a sign you are due for a trim.

Personally I swear by a wide tooth comb 2x a day.
