Diapers in Europe

Anonymous
Hi there - this may sound like a silly question, but where does one buy diapers in Italy? In the US, they are available at every grocery store and corner CVS, but I don't know if that will be the case in Italy. I know that the Italian pharmacies are different from our drug stores (where you can get everything from aspirin to beach chairs). I'd rather not pack a suitcase full of diapers if I can avoid it...

Any thoughts?

We were able to find diapers at small grocery stores while in Tuscany. I'm not sure where you will be but we also found the larger, all purpose stores like Inter marche sold diapers and other stuff. Although I'm not sure if you were in Florence where you might go but I'm assuming there would be similar stores there that you can find them. Have you asked this question on the regional forum on TripAdvisor? They are usually excellent about answering questions and giving you all the details you need.

Don't know specifically about Italy, but we found them in Spain and France at the larger chain markets (think Caprabo, Carrefour, 8 a'huit, etc.), and not at the pharmacies. Most larger towns now have a "super" in addition to the local stores, and they should stock diapers, though there may only be one or two kinds to choose from. We had good luck finding larger markets with our Hertz GPS search function. We had to buy the European equivalent of the Pampers new Dry Max (called Active Fit), which we didn't love. But it was for less than a week. Oh, and it was 14 euros for 28 - pricey!
