Please compare and contrast Hilton Head and Kiawah

What are the relative advantages/disadvantages of each? Thanks!

Both areas are beautiful. It's been a while since I've visited Kiawah, but it's more exclusive and private than Hilton Head. The entire island is like a gated community. From what I recall, there were very few commercial places on Kiawah Island. I had to drive quite a distance to get to the nearest grocery store, but it was very quiet and beautiful. Hilton Head has all the conveniences one might want and more. HH is nice and relatively calm, but Kiawah is even more so. Kiawah is closer to Charleston. HH is closer to Savannah.

I can talk about hhi sea pine plantation. Sea pines has a nice beach on the ocean side...low tide there is a 100 yards of beach and a constant grade. On the sound side, the beach drops off quickly..bike paths, petting zoo, horse back rides, tennis and golf plus the beach and a beach club. It's pretty developed now- stores and outlets. What's your family make up? Last year my 2year had a great time riding in the back of our rental bikes. Rentals go from condo to beach front homes.

Depends on what you want...if it's a beautiful high end hotel, then I have to say that not one hotel on HHI can even come close to the Sanctuary on KI.

If you care less about the hotel and more about activities and access to restaurants, then go to HHI.
