Kids With Special Needs and Disabilities
| My child has significant sensory issues and possible ADHD. Bridges is a possibility this Fall, but before we commit, I'd like opinions about the school and recommendations of other DC schools with whom parents have been pleased. My child is 3 years old and does not need to be in a non-categorical classroom, however, he needs an aid in a general ed classroom to manage aggression arising form sensory problems. He did not get into St. Columba's or NCRC. I am also interested in info on other private programs. If responders are uncomfortable posting answers here, you can respond to me directly at douglas_me@hotmail.com. Thanks for your help. |
| You might also want to check out the DC Public forum, but sometimes the search engine is pretty weak. I know there was a discussion there about 6 months ago, but it might be embedded in another topic. |

I teach at a different DC charter school and have always been impressed with Bridges, both from the observations I've done (really strong core program with lots of play based developmentally appropriate learning, and seamless integration of services for both ESOL and special needs kids), and from looking at how well prepared the Kindergarteners we get from there are.
I'd happily send my own child there, if he was the right age. |
