You are beautiful inside and out- Too Cheesy?

I feel like this phrase gets thrown around all the time and no longer reflects sincere feelings, just social grace. Do you hear or say it often?

Never, to both. And honestly it strikes me as the kind of thing someone says to someone who is not particularly attractive on the outside. If you want to compliment someone's character, I think there are better ways to do it.

I just wrote this as a response to a picture on Instagram. I don’t think it is cheesy or overused. I sincerely mean it.

Ah, this is what my southern grandmother always said to me as a child. I took it as an admonition. Not dissimilar to “pretty is as pretty does.”

Hmmm. I guess I would just compliment the nice. I suppose I don't really give compliments for "beauty". Though I will talk about how beautiful someone is when they aren't there.

This. I don't understand why can't people say "You are a beautiful person.", that should cover both.

I literally never hear it said to or in front of me.

No one ever wrote it to you either?

Inside and out is a little bit flowery for my tastes but I'm sure I've used it before
