For your mom or MIL? I would just ask them outright. For me? Nothing. I think it’s a silly “holiday.” I love being a mom, I don’t need presents on top of that.

This may be the first year she does not get flowers for Mother's day (if her XDH did that). I remember getting a huge bouquet of flowers from my work colleagues on my first Mother's day without a husband and it meant the world to me.

That’s very sweet of you, OP. Maybe some flowers she can plant in her garden if she has one? Or a nice potted plant?

To spend the day with family, maybe on a hike and picnic. Nothing expensive, and definitely not more stuff that I don't want or need
