| Pay $195 per month for internet, phone and TV. Any recommendations for better providers/lower rates? |
| straight talk for cell phone, tmobile for internet, sling blue for tv. |
| I’ve been using Mint Mobile for well over a year and it’s been fine. I pay a year in advance for $240. Prior to that I used Verizon for about $75/ month. So I’m saving $55/month. This is just for phone. |
| We’ve used Xfinity for internet and cellphones for many years now. No cable or landline. |
| I love Verizon, best service all round, but I ended up switching to Xfinity because Verizon got too expensive and Xfinity gave me 3 free iPhones. |
If you are lucky you have Astound/RCN available at your house/apartment. $20/month for 300mbps internet (more than fast enough for 99.5% of people). Add on a phone line I guess if you want, but not sure why at this point. That price is good for 2 years. For TV, Youtube TV is a really solid product, although at $77/month it's pretty expensive if you don't have anyone to split it with (via adding them to your Google "Family", they have to live in the metro area). Sling is also good. If no RCN, you probably have Xfinity, I would think. They are doing $25/month for 300mpbs internet now, but only good for a year. You really need to switch every few years to minimize prices, which can be a bit annoying but personally it's worth it to save $700/year to have someone come to our house for 20 minutes every year or two to swap a cable on the outside of our house. |

We pay $40 for FIOS alone, 100 MBPS. works fine. Price stable for 5 years so far.
Replicating cable is expensive, all live TV is $$. You have a mobile phone? Mint is $15/month for 5 gig. You switch to Tmobile home internet and then switch back for FIOS promotion |
This is absolutely ridiculous. Why isn't there anything that we can do about it? |

I'm lucky to be in a neighborhood served by Verizon, Comcast and RCN/Astound. Their shared business model is to lure you in with a low rate, then creep it up over time. They succeed because people don't get a paper bill and have their bill on autopay - it takes a while to notice they are paying $200 every month. And some people are served only by one provider, which is tough.
We've on our second lap through providers - Erols/RCN - Comcast - Verizon - RCN/Astound - Xfinity and back to Verizon. |
| Visible Plus instead of Verizon Wireless. Visible Plus is the exact same service because it runs on the Verizon wireless network. Please note that the regular "Visible" also uses the Verizon network but it's deprioritized when there is network congestion. The downside to Visible Plus or Visible is that there is ZERO customer service and no deals where your phone is subsidized. |
As stated in another post, because of their pricing/customer acquisition model. It's reasonable prices for the first year or two, and then absolutely f--k you once the intro period ends and your account reverts to "standard" pricing. It's very frustrating for those with only one provider. |
| I got an antenna 2 weeks ago. I've never been so happy. Sure Verizon gives me 180 channels. I have no interest in 175 of them. Locally, I know have the 4 network channels plus all the crap that I stream. |

We're with Verizon and this is our monthly breakdown:
45 - Fios Internet 300/300 50 - per Mobile 16 - Netflix 10 - Hulu 12 - Amazon 0 - Antenna for locals (not a perfect solution but we rarely watch local TV) |
I actually think that's pretty reasonable. It's about what I pay. $99 verizon internet $72 YouTube TV $25 ATT prepaid (paid upfront as $300/yr). We also get Disney+, Paramount, and Peacock. But that is our entertainment for the most part. That's what things cost! |
I should clarify. Phone is landline. We left Verizon wireless a long time ago. |
