Middle townhouse, looking to replace our fence. Neighbors on one side are on board and very easy going, they don't care about style, but our shared side is in bad shape. We currently have 2 different styles and it is VERY lumbar heavy to match our different interiors. They're fine with going with whatever.
Neighbor on the other side seems hesitate to replace our shared fence, and I get it. I'm ok with matching her style, but she might not like the look of wood of different ages. How did you decide your fence style, if you have a townhouse and neighbors with mismatched fences? fyi their is no HOA to dictate anything. |
| The neighbor hesitant may not be able or willing to afford to replace it. You need to pay for it all and choose what you like. If she wants her fence the same style or not change it you just put your fence inside your property line and not remove hers or the shared fence. |
She can afford to split the cost. It's a small section, that I might even be willing to eat 100% of the cost myself. It's not in terrible shape, but it is being eaten by some vines (on her side). I honestly think it's about aesthetics and looking different than her other 2 sides. I'm sure that side doesn't have more than 5 years left on it anyway, as some of the boards are already popping. I don't know how to approach it with her. |
| Are you sure someone one of your doesn’t actually own the fence? |
| She may like the vines. Raise putting a new fence inside your property line and paying for it. Be sure your survey markers are visible and take pictures showing your line is outside your fence line. Don't give up land, |
