It's disingenuous to hold any sort of "budget" forum because the Council cannot conduct any oversight over how MCPS uses money. And the Council is required by state law to always budget at least as much per pupil as they did last year, so they can't even cut the budget and force MCPS to find efficiencies.
The system is broken and there is no accountability. |

The law requires that they meet Maintenance of Effort (MOE) which is not the same as the budget number submitted. And if you believe they can’t cut the budget your delusional. |
