| I know there are lots of individual threads about stuff related to this, and I'm looking less at teams like Team Takeover and want to focus more on where all of the better teams in the area are pulling players from? Takeover takes talent from all over the country, but what about teams like New World, DC Premier, Nova Cavaliers, Higher Level, Nova94, etc? |
| Curious about both the top boy AAU teams and the top girl AAU teams, as they aren’t always the same. |
Maybe for older High School age teams but the younger (and grassroots) team players primarily live close in Maryland and some in DC and VA. |
Seems like for girls, Fairfax Stars is the premier organization in the area. Outside of the big circuit teams, it seems like teams such as Family over Fame, New World, Nova Cavaliers all seem good. |
What tournaments are AAU teams going to this weekend ? Stars are excellent but they have contenders in this area for sure. |
Girls, lots going to Baltimore and VA Beach. Boys, big tournament at St. James, Baltimore, Richmond, and maybe one or two local ones at K Sports Complex and Hoops Plus? |

My observations from the last few years on girl teams:
Takeover and Stars are really good at all age groups for girls (although I observed some troubling behavior from the Fairfax Stars’ 5th grade girls team coach at a recent game). Elevate and PVT are good mid programs and only a small step behind, but as the age level goes up, the difference gets bigger. Hurricane, PPA, Classics and Vogue are more like high rec teams. I do not know much about the boy teams. Would love to hear people’s takes on the boy teams. |
| Durant is also good but they have questionable coaching and huge rosters. You'll want to be 1-8 to get any minutes. |
| my son is a freshman and plays for DC Premier - we are in Northern Virginia |
| Best is sixth man |
| Potomac Valley Thunder also has some pretty deep rosters (12+ players is too many). |
