dress sites pleeeease for non-trad prom

Anonymous
Sorry guys - I searched and didn’t see much.

My daughter has ruled out the traditional prom dress sites . She tried a sequenced column dress. Looked gorgeous- but no way she could sit or maneuver in and out of a car. The little zipper was so fragile no way it would make it through the night.

So her true style is boho and flowy. Anthropologie but less expensive. She really wants to wear a maxi beach dress. Wearing a column sequence number for 5 minutes sent her running for the hills

Any recs?

Thank you!

Hmm, this is interesting.

My first thought was to thrift a dress. Do you have any upscale thrift stores near you?

My second thought was Rent the Runway.

Lots of pretty ones on the website. Please keep us posted!

My daughter loves a Renaissance Faire vibe, or cottage core vibe. So far we've bought her cheap cotton things on Amazon (they wrinkle terribly, so maybe not prom-worthy), but I have come across some pricey websites that have the real thing - one is called French Meadows. That's assuming that either of them would have the bravura to show up to prom wearing something like that...

Free People is a good suggestion.

My sister was similar to OP's child and found a great dress at a thrift shop.

No it isn’t. Free People is at least as expensive as Anthro.

I tried to talk my DD into this one from Lulu's for prom -- I think it's gorgeous and looks prom-y but unique, comfortable and a little more boho -- this is the green but they have it in a bunch of colors:
