Do I have to pay $60 extra for TurboTax just to file stock sales properly?

What's the way to get the lowest price on turbotax?

I use HR Block software every year, it's a bit cheaper than TurboTax, but not free. Paid $26 for the "Deluxe Fed and State" version, and an added $20 for the state filing (Fed filing is included). Have never had any issues with the HR Block software.

No you don’t. (In fact turbotax basic works fine for most people but they basically got rid of it)

(Not sure about RSUs though)

Usually it’s to buy it from costco or amazon in december or january when it goes on sale.

Some people can get it free thru Fidelity or T Rowe Price (but only the online version)

Does it import and parse all the documents from ADP, banks, and brokerages?

Just to clarify— if you buy tye download version this is true. Some years for the online version they make you upgrade by limiting what forms you can fill out.

They have a good sale on Amazon pretty much every year the last week of December. Can usually get the Fed+State for around net $35-40, but do have to pay additional fee for the state filing

I think that's an option, not totally sure. Have never used that functionality personally.

Usually I manually copy numbers over from TurboTax to MD government website, to avoid the $50+ State fee.

Is this the best option?

Wow, they charge $50 to e-file MD state returns? What a ripoff. HR Block charges $20 to file state returns.

if you buy in advance usually you can get the state software for like $10 extra, then you can decide whether to just print it out and mail it in or efile or whatever
