which Lake Erie Island (Put in Bay, Kelleys island, etc.) with DS12?

We'll be in the area to visit family and would like to either do a day trip or stay overnight for 1-2 nights. We all get sick on roller coasters, so Cedar Point is out (not technically on an island but close enough to them).

Honestly they’re both pretty boring for a 12 year old. I would do one night tops. Put in Bay is larger and has a merry go round, shops, mini golf. Kelley’s is very quiet. Yes Put in Bay has lots of bars but there are lots of areas away from them as well.

Put in Bay is wall to wall Trump flags and drunks stumbling around. And at our motel the neighbors had a 2-story bong set up.

But the houses are interesting on the old side of the island

Kelly's Island is more family friendly! Glacial Grooves, rocky beaches, kayaking, you could do a day on kellys, but idk how much longer the 12 year old would want to be there.

KI and PBI are only accessible by boat/ferry so keep in mind getting on and off the islands if you only want to do a day. you can bring your car on the ferry too.

Really sad you are going all that way and skipping Cedar point. Best roller coasters in the entire country.

Lol I had more than enough of Cedar Point when I was in high school nearby and actually puked once. And my hometown where we're spending most of the trip is Trump central. TBD whether a day trip to either island is worth it. Thanks for all the replies!

None as Ohio. Mackinac Island? Isle Royale? Some of the small Ontario islands have nice rentals.
