If you are visiting one of the 5Cs schools and flying into ONT instead of LAX, would you rent a car or just Uber? Only there 36-48 hours for visit but do want to look at several of the campuses and see the town.
Rent a car. The distance between Ontario and Claremont is more than you think. Once you get to the campuses, they are walkable. But you will presumably want to go to the hotel and eat out and get back to the airport.
Get the car. You'll want to explore the area.
Definitely a car.
Car!

My kid is a senior at one of the 5Cs - I’ve flown out a couple of times…move-in, parents weekend, etc.
The ONT airport is 15 minutes away from the campuses - with traffic. Flying in and out is a breeze and not crowded. If you’re staying in the village, everything is walkable - the restaurants, the campuses, etc. I only rented a car for move-in, to shop for dorm items, and take day-trip to Los Angeles. Depends on your itinerary once you get there. |
I always rent a car
100% car
I am a cmc grad. Ca is very car centric, much more so than the dc area. I didn’t have a car at all in college but was always glad when my parents came to visit with a car etc. I think it would be difficult to get from you hotel to the campus without a car. Certainly you can walk around all the campuses.
We are headed to visit CMC and renting a car for sure.
CA parent here who’s very familiar with the area (and its relation to ONT airport). Rent a car.
