Visited both this week. DC showed strong preference towards Vassar.
Both have similar acceptance rates. Wesleyan has a lower acceptance rate. Is it better? |
| No. If your kid showed a strong preference for Vassar, go for it! |
| I would apply to both since they are reach or super reach for most kids. |
This is your answer - congratulations! |

They are both great. DD loved Vassar's campus. Alum network seems strong. Loved the dean or president (whomever addressed us, can't remember). Impressed with admitted day organization and facilities.
Wes had more open curriculum (though V pretty good on ease of making curriculum work). Did not love dean or pres or whomever addressed us. Impressed with the students we met. Offered better FA. Both had gorgeous libraries. Both great options. Are you deciding on an ED? |
| Both are great. Can't go wrong, and if DD leans toward Vassar, you seem to have your answer. |
| Interesting how different kids are. My son hated both Vassar and Wesleyan. Detested them both with a passion. They are both good schools and I would go with the one your kid is more excited about |

I got into Wes and Vasser and preferred Wes. Mostly because I was a hetero female and I thought Wes had a better balance of hetero females to hetero males. Don't know what the ratios are like now.
Vasser campus is gorgeous, tho. And it's an easier train ride into NYC. Probably should have considered it more. Anyway they are about the same. Pick whichever the kid likes best. |
| My husband and I went to Wes and my kid is going to Vassar. Both great schools, and very similar in terms of vibe, quality, size, and location. Your kid can’t go wrong! |
Why wouldn't you apply to both? Wes has a super easy application - no essay from what I recall. |
| Thanks. OP here. We will drop Wesleyan. Agree that it’s not worth it if DC didn’t like it. |
