question about colonoscopy prep - a little graphic

TLDR: Can you have the right color stool (clear and yellow) for a colonoscopy, but still have food in your stomach?

Saturday, I ate a fairly decent sized late lunch of refried beans and calabacitas (squash/zucchini, onion, tomato, corn) and chips/salsa, then for a late dinner I had about a 1/3 brick of tofu and some chickpeas. I went to a clear liquid diet Sunday morning and had only popsicles, broth & sorbet, and lots of water. I have had trouble with constipation the past couple of weeks so I started my prep a couple of hours early in case it took longer for everything to work its way out. I did the first dose of prep at 4 and didn't see much in the way of results, so did the second dose at 11pm. I woke up this morning and was still having cloudy elimination so I took a 3rd dose of another product (miralax). The elimination is now clearer, but I still can't believe how easy and quick it was which makes me worry the food I had Saturday is still sitting in my stomach. Is that possible?

Yes. Call the nurse line for advice. Ime they were very helpful.

If you haven’t been pooping increasingly liquid poop and then ultimately clearish liquid for several hours I don’t think you got it all out. I agree with the PP to call the nurse line.

Which prep method did you do?

I followed my prep guidelines perfectly and still seemed like it wasn’t completely clear. Turned out I had a pocket of diverticulitis where a little stuff remained. The doctor was ok with it and just noted it.

Thanks everyone, I'm supposed to be there in an hour, so I'll go over it with them.

I took 2 doses of clenpiq, followed by the 3rd dose of miralax (which was 1/2 of 8.3oz bottle).

Op here - I explained everything and kept getting a green light. My nerves were calmed and the procedure went well. My notes say my “bowel prep was excellent”. I was mostly worried about aspiration. I’m not sure if I still had food in my stomach or not, but the colon was nice and clean. After hearing so many horror stories about prep, I really expected something a lot worse, so if anything I want to assure anyone that might read this that prep really isn’t that terrible. Thank you again for the answers.
