Amazon Customer Service No Longer Exists

Anonymous
There is no phone number to call.
the AI refers you back to the page you asked the question on.
Have they entirely gotten rid of customer service?

I have two brand new phones, which I purchased while pregnant and in a fog, and I need to return both because they are locked, but the return window expired. I was wondering if I could exchange them or sell them on amazon. Surely I am not the first person to be in such a situation? Don't they earn money off brainless people like me?

Outside of the window for return? You're out of luck. Sorry, OP.

What does that mean they are locked? What do you do with locked phones? Should be illegal to sell a useless phone, right?

They do earn money from people who buy things and then do not return them in a timely manner. Their return policy for phones is somewhere between 15-30 days and matches the Apple and Samsung policies you will find anywhere.

Locked phones are locked to a carrier. You can often save money by buying a phone that will only work with one carrier. Generally, after a year of service you can get it unlocked.

The chat service works great - this is the only customer service I've ever used on Amazon, and over the 13 years I've been a Prime customer, it's never failed me.

OP, I get you're in pregnancy or postpartum fog, but come on. You can figure this out.

Have you tried it in past few weeks?

And what am I supposed to do with two locked phones?

The chat service was a pain, I had a package where the product leaked. Had to go around in circles for about 30 minutes until they finally gave me the option to have customer service call me. The representative was obviously not in the US, but was very efficient.

I'm not sure what you can do if they are beyond the return window, other than to maybe sell them somewhere else.

OP. Thanks. I'll try to go in circles a bit.

Surprised someone doesn't have a business doing this already!

Oh, it exists. I was chatting with them for over 2 hours last week when I had a problem with a video purchase (a season of a tv show) showing up on my computer but not on my tv with fire stick.

Two freaking hours. And the problem was not resolved at the end of the two hours. I just gave up and ended the chat. After that I asked AI what to do, and I got a list of everything the Amazon person had me do -- in the exact same order they had me do it in. I'm pretty sure they didn't know anything and were just giving me stuff to try after asking ChaptGpt.

Useless. It might be better if they no longer exist.

You can sell the phones on eBay as locked phones. Use search to discover the likely sales price from closed listings. Do it sooner than later.

If they are attractive models and your household has people working in offices, maybe ask coworkers or even family members if anyone is thinking of upgrading, has carrier X, and wants a deal.
