I am in early stages of getting estimates for a kitchen renovation. So far I had 2 companies and Home Depot design center come out
These are the cabinet offerings 1. Legacy Presidential line 2. Waypoint 3. Thomasville I am reading conflicting reviews about all three. Has anyone had any experience with these cabinets and what are your thoughts on them? What are the upper end cabinet brands? I have a small kitchen so the number of cabinets is not huge so I can splurge. |
| Upper end are rutt, crown point, plain and fancy, quality custom cabinets. For frameless European, snaidero, poggenpohl, bulthaup. At Home Depot best lines are kraftmaid or Schuler ( or whatever name schuler is marketed as). |
|
Would you recommend frameless? I like the look but want to make sure they are sturdy.
|
|
Frameless can be sturdy if they have 3/4 inch furniture board sides, metal brackets in corners etc. It’s really about the aesthetic (frameless is more contemporary), what lines you have access to (except for crown point they are all sold through dealers) and the relative skill of the designer you’re working with.
Mainline kitchen’s blog and Houzz are great places to learn about cabinets . |
| The costs for cabinets really vary based on how many options you want and without improving quality. For example, 10K cabinets and 50K cabinets can have similar materials, but the 10K cabinets will come in fewer size and finish options, so there are lower manufacturing and warehouse costs. Costs will go up even more for custom sizes and finishes. |

We have Signature cabinets in our kitchen and Woodharbor cabinets in our bathrooms. Love both.

Was there a pricing difference? Not OP, but we're deciding on cabinets now and looking at Signature. I was wondering whether we should look at them or a different line for the bathrooms (need a 72" double vanity and I'd like at least 2 sets of drawers). |
| We have Signature. They are very nice. |
|
PP with Signature and Woodharbor. We found Woodharbor to be slightly less expensive, but both of great quality.
When we got a 72" double vanity (for two daughters), we combined two 30" vanities with a 12" vanity. It looks like one vanity when it is installed. This allowed the far left and right sides to have drawers, as well as shared set of drawers in the middle. We weren't able to find a ready-made vanity that had that option. |

We recently remodeled our kitchen and went with Kraft Maid. Looks very luxury, really like all the organizational components.

| Question - how much are you all spending just on cabinets? |
| It really depends on how many cabinets you need. For one kitchen, we spent about $5,000. For our most recent renovation, the cabinets were just over $50k. |
We just got a quote back for 50K on cabinets. My jaw hit the floor. It seemed way higher than what the information says out there. We did some "upgrades" with the construction but still. I would like to know what people are paying. |
| Anyone go with RTA cabinets? |
|
Any cabinet companies you would not recommend?
I have heard some do not hold up after a few years. |
