Family Movie Night-8 and 10 year old

My 10 year old is aksing for a movie none of us has seen and is excellent. We all love sports movies, kids who beat the odds movies (think better nate than ever, and the queen of katwe), and comedies. PG-13 is fine and some R is OK too

R for an 8 year old? In that case, go ahead and watch Oppenheimer.

There are so many good ones without needing them to rush to PG13 or R! Plenty of time for that.

For beating the odds and/or sports I like:
Akeelah and the Bee
Matilda (both the musical on Netflix and the older non musical movie)
The Greatest Showman
Cool Runnings
The Mighty Ducks
Finding Ohana
Sing
Zootopia
Hidden Figures

This is a great list of 50 movies all kids should see before age 12:

Check out Nimona on Netflix. We just watched with 9 year old and loved it!

What about The Mitchells vs the Machines? It was funny for both the kid and adults. Also Jennifer Garner has a couple of cheesy family movies on Netflix, they are very formulaic but somewhat entertaining and my kid laughed a lot during both of them, which is always a plus.

Rudy sounds like it would be perfect. Miracle is another good one. At those ages, my kids loved Dolphin Tale.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
Jumanji: Next Level

My 8yo and 10yo DDs and I laughed the whole time. Our most recent movie was Back to the Future suggested by their grandfather, ha!

Leo on Netflix. It’s a cartoon but our whole family (kids 8&11 yo) loved it.

OP there are no R rated movies for the ages of your kids. That is ridiculous. Not a bible thumper nor as my kids aged stopped them from watching anything they wanted. But this post is just dum.

Your parenting stinks

Journey to the Center of the Earth - my kids ages 6-10 all enjoyed it
Journey of Natty Gann

They also enjoyed all the movies like The Pacifier, smoke jumpers, etc.
