Maxi dresses for petite women

Anonymous
I am 5’3” and have nice legs, so have not really seen the need to wear them. However, lately I keep seeing these “influencers” showing their Amazon finds and some of these dresses look really cute. Has anyone tried any that don’t completely overwhelm a short woman?

I bought a maxi dress from Amazon. Awful quality.

I would definitely shop at a brick and mortar store. Try them on the old fashion way.

There are very few maxi dresses that have the right length for a short woman. If you absolutely must, look at midi skirts and dresses.
And get off TikTok FFS.

I'm 5'1" and like maxi dresses. I have not bought any at brick and mortar stores, though.

I meant to say that I have not bought any at Amazon, only at brick and mortar stores.

Same height and same good experience. My best finds are petite and I still get tailored usually so the straps are exact right length etc. Only from real brands/stores.

I know I wrote a post on maxi dresses last year wondering where everyone wears this kind of dress. For me, they are not versatile enough. I own one and have worn it exactly 2 times—to wedding showers. I wouldn’t wear a maxi to church, the grocery store or work.

Also petite, usually I just get a midi dress. I have an oversized cotton poplin one from COS that gets a lot of wear. Very comfortable for summer and looks good with slides

These come in Petite. Some patterns might overwhelm short ladies but maybe it would work in a solid color.

no, petite people should not where that type of maxi dress.

Straight line ones are much better.

A midi regular size dress would be like a maxi dress on short people.

I'm short.

Disagree. Straight lines on petite women just make them look like fire hydrants and very out of style. These dresses are cut for petite women with the proper proportions. It's the perfect hybrid of maxi and mini. As to those who have nowhere to wear them, these work in many business casual settings, perfect for going out to a nice lunch or dinner. Or sightseeing while traveling. I wear my dresses like this all the time. With cute sandals or sneakers.
