Los Angeles - rent a car or Uber?

Anonymous
We are going to LA for spring break and can’t figure out if we want to rent a car or Uber around. Staying in Beverly Hills three nights and then Santa Monica for two. We would like to go to Malibu, Griffith Observatory, Warner Bris studio and perhaps Dodger Stadium. Not sure what makes the most sense but parking will be about $60 a day which will add up quickly. Can we do all of this with an Uber?

Uber is easy and la traffic sucks. Even if you bounce around a few times a day it’s worth 100 bucks to avoid being behind the wheel.

Malibu will be very expensive to Uber, depending on how far you are going. Might want to just rent a car for that day? The others are not that far and Uber shouldn't be super expensive.

I’d definitely rent a car. Lived there 9 years and it will be much easier and you need one to get everywhere.

Absolutely rent a car. No question. Not even close.

Agree 100%. Don’t live there but visit often and would not want to do it without a car.

Rent a car. Did this last year and definitely recommend renting a car.

Rent a car but getting to car rental from LAX takes forever. It might make sense to try Turo.

Never do Turo.

Sign up ahead of time for the frequent rental programs - National and Avis are by far the best - and skip all the lines, going straight to your car.

It’s a very car centric place.

I'd rent a car until you get to Santa Monica. Then walk, take the bus, and if need be, Uber.

I live in Malibu/Santa Monica area and I think renting a car is best, and use the Waze app.

Also check out Getty Center and Getty Villa to see if either of those are interesting to you!

Rent a car. I did not think traffic was so bad tbh. An Uber would get very annoying, constantly getting in and out.

I live in LA, and recommend renting a car. Relying on Uber would suck. You want flexibility and to be able to jump in your car and explore.
