This name is very high on our list. I don’t know why, but Ivey just looks better to me. Yes or no? |
It looks odd to me. But I love Ivy. With Ivy, no confusion for kid growing up with weirdly spelled name. |
If you have to say “but spelled” you yourself know it isn’t the right spelling and will be a pain. Why not just Ivy? Or something that looks better to you in its correct spelling? Don’t ask your child to work so hard for your aesthetics now for a lifetime on their part. Can you find a bigger hill to die on? |
My name is a unique spelling of a regular name. I hate it. No one gets it right because they hear the normal name and go with normal spelling. ALWAYS.
Think: Julee for Julie. Izabelle for Isabelle. Patrisha for Patrica. Just one letter off. It would be better to have a different name that people would say: How do you spell that? |
Please do not saddle your child with a misspelled name. |
OP here. You guys have talked some sense into me (thank you!). If we decide to name her this, Ivy it will be! |
The memory of my one-letter-off child thanks you. As an adult it is just annoying. |
Onley Fans was my first reaction |
You made the right decision. Ivy is a lovely name. |
Like the governor of Alabama? That alone would put me off the spelling |
Ivey is an MBA school in Canada. |
Why can't people just spell names normally? Ivey looks like you don't know how to spell Ivy. |
Agreed. These "creative" spellings just scream uneducated trailer trash to me. |
That says more about you than anyone else. |
Ivy is lovely, just like that. |
