Headed to Virginia Tech so our son can check out the campus. Does anyone have a recommendation for where to eat along the way?
And how about Blacksburg? Any iconic dining spot. Looking for casual. Not fine dining! Thank you. |
Harrisonburg is 1/2 way and has a lot of good restaurant options. |
We love 622 North in Blacksburg. Everything I've ever ordered there is delicious. Cabo Fish Taco, Gaucho Brazilian Grill, Blacksburg Tavern, etc.
As another poster pointed out, Harrisonburg is exactly half way (from NoVA) and has plenty of restaurants. We like Capital Ale House, Local Chop and Grill, Jack Brown's, Bella Luna, BoBoKo Indonesian, Jimmy Madison's, and more. Have fun! |
And might as well check out JMU if you are there! |
For dining in Blacksburg, our favorites are: Gillies (just steps from campus), Mellow Mushroom (in downtown, easy walk from campus), Our Daily Bread (a quick drive, across from the "fancy" Kroger) and Due South BBQ (in Christiansburg)
I often do the drive from Nova there and back in a day, so have to stop for coffee halfway in the morning. Greenberry's Coffee in Harrisonburg is my favorite. The coffee is always well made, the original breakfast burrito is delicious, and the bathrooms are clean. My daughters love the muffins there so much that I always brings some home for them. |
Never been to Blacksburg, but when we toured JMU, there was an amazing grilled cheese place (small, but amazing, with nice staff). Grilled Cheese Mania. Highly recommend. |
Cabo fish taco was amazing at lunch today. |
We also like the Farmhouse in Christiansburg |
Yes!! My son loves that place. DP |
SOOOO Many ! Too Many to list !! |
Aww you all are taking me back! We got married in 2000 on the VT campus, had our reception at The Farmhouse and Our Daily Bread did our wedding cake. 🥰🥰 |
OP here. A huge thanks for everyone's suggestions! |
Love it! |
In Blacksburg Gillies for breakfast and the Cellar for dinner or lunch. But also, you need to eat on campus there! |
grace + main is another great coffee shop! It is in the Hotel Madison, and sits on the edge of the JMU campus (on the corner of Main Street and Grace Street). It’s a lovely little spot for breakfast. |
