Hilton Head Island - third week of June

We went to Hilton Head Island for the first time over spring break last year ('23) and absolutely loved it. So much better than Florida (at least the places in FL we've been to) - cleaner, less crowded, room to spread out on beaches, loved being able to bike everywhere, loved the "woodsy" vibe, lack of high rises...just felt so relaxed. Of course, it didn't hurt that we had absolutely gorgeous weather - upper 70s/low 80s every day.

I think we'd like to go back the third week of June this summer. Is it way more crowded in summer vs. spring break? How is the weather?

Yes, much more crowded in the summer and it will be hot but not hotter than Florida. We love HHI too. The crowds on the beach really depend on where you stay. If you rent walking or biking distance to a non public beach they are still not crowded imo.

The summers in HHI are far more brutal than the spring. We’ve actually been for several summers in May, June and July, and last year we switched and went in February (which was abnormally warm). It was perfect last year! We will only visit in Fall, winter or spring going forward. Less crowds everywhere, better weather for biking and kayaking and hiking, and hotel rates at a fraction of the summer prices.

Summer is great. The ocean will be 82 by the third week in June. We’ve spent summers there for years and still find new things to do and explore.
