How do normal families afford monthly or more afford haircuts for everyone?
$30 to $50 each, that's $2000/yr for haircuts! I grew my hair out and then more recently clip my own hair short. (Man.) |
I've tried fancy salons but I also found that if you find a good person at say great clips or haircuttery they do just as a good job for much cheaper. I usually end up tipping like it's a fancy salon because I appreciate it so much more. |
I get my long, curly hair cut 2-3x/year at $120 + tip. |
Just go once a quarter. Then it’s only 4x a year. |
It's also why I keep my hair long: so I can go maybe 2-3 times a year and get it cut. Sometimes I trim the ends on my own. So if you can have longer hair, it saves some money in the long run.
My dh goes to a cheaper men's barber shop once a month and tips well for a basic haircut. |
During covid I've learned to cut hair. I can cut hair pretty well now and cut DH's hair about every 6 weeks. |
I found someone great at Hair Cuttery and I'm so glad. I get highlights and it is significantly cheaper than the fancy Tysons salon I've frequented in the past. I actually had my hair done today and tipped her 30%. I even got in to see her last minute on the 31st when I decided I wanted my hair done for NYE. She's a 10/10. |
Family of 5
3 males go every 2 months - appx 100 each time - $600/year 2 girls - each every 6 months. One is $30 each time so $60 for the year and one is appx $150 each time (new highlights to cover gray) so $300 / year $960 for the year which is actually more than I thought - but we go to a woman who cuts hair in her basement |
Boys, including my spouse, go to the Barber for far less.
Girls with long curly hair go 1-2 times per year at $140 |
If someone is getting her grays covered, I’ve got news for you—she’s not a girl. |
I had the same thought but forgot to go back and change it |
