| I'm 5'0 and can not seem to find any pants that I can buy withouth getting them hemmed. Has anyone had luck finding great petite pants? I ordered the petite harlow wide leg pant from Madewell and had to get them hemmed. When I look at places like Macys/Amazon the petite pants all look tapered and super old fashioned.. Any recs or specific links to great pants for us shorties? |
| Petite section of Ann Taylor, Athleta, Banana Republic. Also try Shortstorybox. It’s a box like Stitchfix but for petites only |
| I have no trouble finding just appropriate length pants anywhere. I'm 5'4 but extremely long torso, short legs. Ankle pants are very in. Focus on styles that are meant to be shorter. |
| I’m 5’2 and wear a lot of pants from: Banana Republic, Uniqlo, TopShop, FatFace. Abercrombie & Fitch has a lot of petite options but I’ve never tried them. |
| Anthropologie and get a Nordstrom card (I have the debit version so it doesn't have to be a credit card) for the alterations credits. |

I follow Brooke Anderson on instagram, she is 4'10" and has a lot of petite pant options that do not need hemming

For ponte/casual work slacks, I have pants from quince and saint and sofia in the short sizes. I have jeans from Democracy (28" inseam). I have a few pairs of theory petite for more work stuff. I have one pair of talbots petites.
The key is to have a good tailor and accept that you have to tack on 25-30$ sometimes to get things altered. I have decided that its better to buy fewer, higher quality items and get them tailored rather than having lots of options, none of which ever looked quite right on me. I did a semi closet clean out (need to do another) and donated things a lot of things but also took a number of things to the tailor that were just a little off (basically all my sleeves too long) and it's amazing the difference well fitted clothes have on a short person. BTW, I am still learning how to buy correctly fitted clothes and what can and can't be easily tailored and I'm in my early 50s! |
| I am 5’ and the only pants that fit me are from Talbots. |

I'm 5'1 and don't have this problem (and I would say that my torso and legs are both equally petite). There seem to be petites everywhere and ankle pants are very in style. Regular ankle pants are identical to how the long version should look on me. I'm very sensitive to making sure the lengths are correct.
Growing up nothing ever fit me and everything had to be tailored, but now petites are in most stores. I still have trouble with dresses being cut for larger shoulders though. The straps on dresses are always too long and shirts can get too low cut quickly (like below my bra strap in the front). Armpit holes will be too big too. I like Banana Republic for work pants and Levis for jeans right now. I wear a lot of dresses and skirts. |
| Hemming is super easy. You can easily do it by hand with a needle and thread (unless it's jeans of course). |
| I’m 5’0” only need to hem every so often, rarely. A lot of brands carry petites, I use some of the same brands as above PP like Banana Republic, Talbots, Ann Taylor, Gap, Athleta. I’ve tried Democracy as well. |
| Anthropologie petites have had good things lately. Plus lil mother jeans now in petite. I love them. |
| Figure out your ideal inseam and then search for jeans/pants by inseam length. I’m 5’3” and a 26.5” inseam is ideal. That usually translates into jeans/pants that are called “cropped” |
NP - Nice! Thank you for the link. |
