Anybody have experience with the Coolidge Presidential Scholarship? (not school specific)

Kind of surprised no one has experience given how many high stats kids are reported on this thread

My kid looked into it. It is a strange one...you are supposed to read a bunch of Coolidge's books, then write essays that are tied to the books. I think you write a bunch of other essays and get teacher recs, etc. I also believe that while there are no income or other restrictions, they want kids with significant community service or other types of things.

It was a lot of work and didn't seem like my kid had much of a chance. I would think anyone applying as a Coca Cola scholar would shoot for this one as well.

It is an oddball that you have to read all of Coolidge's books (who knew he had any?)...but in theory, the more hoops, the less someone applies.

It involved some coersing, but I convinced my nerdball kid to apply. The full-ride scholarship is a giant reach, but they also give one hundred $1,000 scholarships, which might be attainable. We'll see...
