Magazine subscription without auto renewal

Anonymous
I used to love getting magazine subscriptions, but I canceled them all because they require an auto renewal subscription. I don’t want these, and I don’t want to have to remember to cancel —or risk a problem with getting them to cancel.

Are there any tricks around this? Tips welcome!

Buy through Amazon. You can buys 3,6 or 12 issues and then it ends. Reorder if you want more.

If you sign up online and create an account, you can cancel the auto-renewal at any time. Just be sure to register directly on the publication’s website (not a magazine broker).

As I tell DD, just write yourself a note on your calendar!

But I want to avoid the risk of problems or drama canceling. I had a drawn out drama after canceling yet they still charged me. I even disputed the charges, but then I had to deal with that. Too exhausting. I’m looking for something that does not renew.

To the poster above about Amazon, I didn’t see that option.

This is the main reason I gave up my subscription to Vanity Fair. Every year they would auto renew at some ridiculous rate, and I had to argue about getting the $20/year rate or whatever was advertised in the cards stuck in the magazine.

Amazon ended its magazine subscription services.

I can't believe people still read magazines. I can't tell you the last time I've picked one up-- seems so archaic.

I read them in the bathroom, which is where I DON’T want to bring my devices.

Darn. I used to subscribe and cancel at the same time- it was the easiest way to remember to not auto renew

You can still pay by check for most magazines. The yearly subscription rate will be higher (this is fair, since your sub will cost the mag much more to renew than the auto subs) but it’ll end after one year. I’m a magazine editor and our mag prints a mailing address for subscriptions inside each issue.

This is the ONLY way that I pay for magazine subscriptions!

I got so tired of being auto-renewed for another year (without ever missing another issue!!)
Argh! 😖
