Adding music to a video with iMovie on phone?

I’m stuck and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong even after watching tutorials online.

My DD is 8 and made a cute movie of her dolls. She wants to add a specific part of a song that I have on my phone to the video using iMovie. We are able to add the song so it starts from the beginning of the song, but can’t find a way to start the music from mid-song so the video begins with the chorus.

When we try to move the little slider for the song, it doesn’t change the part of the song that plays, only when it starts playing as the video plays.

Help, I’m bad at this. DD was so patient helping me and I don’t have half the stamina for this stuff that she does.
