| My 15 year old daughter is looking ahead to summer and noticed that the Department of Parks and Rec in DC hires teens for their summer jobs. Different from the Barry Summer Jobs program. Since there isn't any updated information on their website I thought I would get some info to pass along to her. Has anyone's child had any luck obtaining a summer job with DPR? And if so, what did they do? Any word on hourly rates? Appreciate any info I can pass along to her! |
| Is your DD in a public school? If so, keep an eye out on all the communications. Jackson Reed at least sends out announcements when these things open, close, etc. |
| Will your DD be 16 by the summer? I think they need to be 16 for summer employment through DCPR. |
Thank you. No, she will still be 15 unfortunately. Thank you. |

This is for later but the Forest Service has summer jobs for recent grads and they sometimes hire teens (off USAJobs)

FYI to families - kids are turning to geological careers which can be used in the future for mining opportunities.
The way to go with this field is contact college programs with BSc in Geology and/or Mine Management. From there talk to professors about summer or pre-college year-long opportunities. You can take a year before college and do an educational study for around $14K a year plus housing. After that off to get your degree. |
