I think I saw a thread in the past that when you are accepted to a school, you might receive swaggers or PR package in the morning.
Also, it sounds like an urban legend …but a family group who already goes to the school will come knock on your door and sing? or make a circle around you and deliver the good news. Probably only for a rare occasion though! Good luck to you all receiving good news next February anyway! |
| Packages, yes. Carolers, no. |
| LOL. If people randomly circle me and start singing I'm calling the police |
Yeah that would be a the fastest rejection of a school offer ever if it happened to me. OP, I think you may have been reading too many humor/snide posts on DCUM. |
| Some schools do send a package with swag, and some do arrive during the day on March 1 before the decisions are posted on Ravenna at 4:00. I recall Landon, Bullis, and SAES sending swag arriving before decisions were posted, but there are more. |
|
Of the schools we applied to last year, one sent a formal letter (also available on their admissions portal) and the rest were all online (email and/or posting on their admissions portal).
They stick to the timeline listed closely, so don't make yourself crazy checking multiple times during the day. And not all schools are on the same timeline (parochial vs. independent etc) so there may be staggered dates depending on the schools you apply to. You'll read about people signing up for USPS package alerts to see if they're getting a package of swag, checking social media etc. Ignore all the noise (and there will be a lot, unfortunately) leading up to the decision day. |
| We received mailed packets from schools in addition to Ravenna but not necessarily in decision day. Also, somehow we were left out on one school's packet - or it was lost in the mail. |
|
DS got a small package the following week.
We had the Ravenna notification and the school attached a super cute Welcome video featuring current students enthusiastically welcoming the new kids; it was adorable. |
| Packages can arrive before or after the time when you find out online. |
| OP here. Thanks all! I will try not to go too crazy about it… It was a long process until today, so just wanted to relax and imagine some positive things 😁 |
| We got packages from Bullis and St. Patricks. The Bullis one had glitter exploding out of it, which as a parent I didn't appreciate. The kids enjoyed the stuffed animals, water bottle, and backpack, but we ended up choosing a school that didn't send any swag. |
| St. Andrew's tied deflated balloons to our mailbox. It would have been better if they skipped it. |
| We got an email. So exciting. |
Ohh, that is sad times. Yeah, better to just skip that. |
| Welp, the admissions director showed up at our door! Quite a surprise and of course, we had to accept! |
