Total closet refresh

Anonymous
I’m in need of a total closet refresh due to lifestyle changes, aging, etc. Has anyone worked with a stylist or other professional to facilitate this? I have an appt booked with a Nordstrom personal shopper bc that’s what came to mind but I imagine there’s something else out there and would appreciate some BTDT information

Oooh following.

Have you met with your personal shopper yet? Let me know about your experience!

If you are in this mindset (someone here will tell you it's stupid) but I have done this and it has helped tremendously. Start by getting your colors done. The idea sounds a little hokey and weird, but after doing before mostly refreshing my closet for a post-pandemic life, I get compliments from occasional acquaintances about how random gym shirts are perfect colors on me.

Set a budget first for the wardrobe and the consultant, and then you’ll have more success looking for the right service.

I want to do this but it all just seems kind of fake and mostly they’re just putting lipstick on people and pointing out that royal blue looks pretty good on everyone.

I promise you that it's not really that fake. Go in person. Looking back after having this done, I can pinpoint shirts that fit the bill that I was not especially fond of myself (maybe the style was not quite right) where I got compliment after compliment that kept me from giving them to goodwill. There is a weird grey/green that is "right" for me that i would have NEVER picked. Ever. And I got a workout top in that color (to me, this was an ugly color) and my face looks so good when I wear it. It's bizarre. I am pretty sure I posted here about it, but I pursued this mid pandemic when my roots came in and my hair was back and I realized that my eyes popped so much better with my natural hair color because I was looking at my face on zoom all of the time I noticed it.

Who was the person who did your color analysis? Local or online ?

I'm looking into this as well. I'm considering Style By Rachel. Has anyone heard of them? https://stylebyracheldc.com

I COMPLETELY agree with this!!! I thought it was an MLM and a scam. But no, I loved it.

And now I simply follow IG accounts that focus on my “season” and I buy items they suggest, and I’ve never felt better!

Not pp but I used created colorful online and loved the experience! Also did this during a closet refresh. It was nice just to give myself a little direction and a color palette as I purchased new things

Color analysis has to be done in person. It’s called house of colour. I’m sure that you can find someone in the area. Again, it seems like an MLM and super gimmick but it’s great. I am not affiliated, I am a skeptic, but I love it. My confidence has skyrocketed and I get compliments all the time now. It has made shopping SO easy.

I had my colors done (Color Me Beautiful with Lynn Glassman) and agree that it was an amazing experience. They analyze your eye color, skin tone and hair color and give you a swatch palette of about 25 colors that look best on you. Its not just winter, summer, spring, fall. There are about 4 types within each season and it tells you the best jewelry colors as well. It was money well-spent.

No, not royal blue.

Eggplant, teal blue, blush and true red.

According to a Real Simple article I read years ago....

What is the fee to have color analysis done by them? Their website certainly has everyone looking beautiful!

Around $300-$400. I was given birthday money by my parents for my 40th birthday and I spent it on that.
Again, such a skeptic and it’s so expensive but I can’t tell you how much it’s changed my closet and my confidence.
Now I follow people on IG in my season and buy things they suggest and it’s so easy!
I no longer buy ALL the shirts I like…I know which ones will look best on me.

And again, daily compliments are fun too.
