Peabody Watkins Specific Boundary Thread

Does anyone have any intell on how the current Peabody Watkins boundary will be impacted by the boundary study? We left Peabody after Prek3 and Prek4 for another Hill school through proximity preference (we live near Peabody and get it at Ludlow and Maury). The zone is so gerrymandered that until proximity preference is addressed, parents in the Peabody Watkins zone will likely be able to find another school. I'm curious if that's being addressed. My son's prek4 class last year basically all left for Ludlow, and Maury, and (which not proximity preference) Brent and SWS.

NP. Would love to know what the proposal is if anyone attends. Watkins also lost the majority of IB families in my daughter’s class too by about 2nd grade. We lotteried into SWS but people left for other DCPS schools, charters and moved.

There are actually Watkins families with proximity preference to Brent as well. A block or two near 7th & Independence. The zone is a complete mess for multiple reasons, but the fact that the richer 2/3rds of the zone can all opt out for Brent/Maury/LT by K/1st is surely one of them.

The proposal that was mentioned by the principal (in one of the other threads) would move a few Brent blocks near Peabody into Watkins (my friend around 5th & A is affected) and a few Watkins blocks across from the Payne playground in Payne. Nothing too earth shattering, though these changes make the zone look a little less absurd.
