Are there any books that frighten you so much

That you can't finish reading? I cannot read "The Turn of the Screw," as it terrifies me and I cannot watch film or TV adaptations. I have tried and every time I just get too scared.

Bastard out of Carolina by June Allyson. I knew it was true, it was her life and I had to get off a train and find fresh air because I was passing out at the horror of what happened to her as a kid. It took a long time, but I did go back and finish the book.

That's a great book! I think June Allyson worked in a different genre than Dorothy Allison, though.
