adult only resort with adult children

Anonymous
We’re thinking of bringing our 18 and 20 year old college aged children to an adults only resort in Mexico in January.

We’ve never been to an adults only resort. Is there anything you can think of that would make this inadvisable? One negative I can think of is I doubt there will any peers for them to meet at the pools, etc.

Is it adults only, or like, "adults only if you know what I mean"?

Awkward

I would call the resort and ask what age group tends to visit.

Adult only resorts are usually major, drinking/hook up situations. What I would do instead is to go to a very high scale resort with no children’s club.

You don't think Hedonism would be fun with grandma?

Haha to all from OP. This is not a Hedonism. It is a Hilton resort in Mexico that is adults only, my guess is to appeal to those who do not want screaming kids splashing around all day. But I did wonder if it would be a “romantic” vibe which obviously would be weird with our kids. On the resort website, it looks like a standard Mexican resort.

Are you sure it's 18+ not 21+?

+1 I'd be sure to check this, OP. But either way, an adults-only resort with your parents might be more fun if you can drink.
...Although, what's the drinking age in Mexico, and what are you comfortable with your kids doing?

They said Mexico, so adults only would be 18+. Outside of the USA 18+ can drink

No place will be great for your kids as it’s a tweener age. Not really teen but not adults. I’d definitely avoid the Hedonism type places for many reasons. Plenty of adult resorts do have topless beaches which could be quite memorable if your kids are boys. They’d remember the trip for a long time.

I’d ask your kids if they would be up for trying something like that.

Read reviews and see if this place is something that a young adult would like.

I’ve got two young adult sons and I’d bring them along. They stopped eating off the kiddie menu and going to kiddie activities along time ago

Secrets Maroma Beach. Run by Hyatt and an unfortunate name that makes one think of Hedonism but it is excellent.
