Thrift shop. How to get cologne and other strong smells out of clothing?

Anonymous
The worst right now is a pair of boys athletic pants that smell like cologne. I've already washed and dried it once. It's soaking in Oxyclean now... What else could help get rid of the smell? Maybe a vinegar soak instead?

1 cup vinegar 1 cup baking soda added to wash cycle. Put outside to dry in the sun.

I think vinegar and baking soda neutral each other, no? Baking soda is probably better than vinegar for odor.

I would do OxiClean, and if that doesn’t work, then vinegar and baking soda. Maybe borax.

I have “washing soda.” Does that do anything either as a soak or added to a regular washing machine wash cycle?

Drink it so you don't notice the odor.

+1 for vodka. Buy the cheap stuff since it doesn't matter anyway.

It's what Hollywood costumers use.

You just can’t. I bought some beautiful silk scarfs and tried about everything, but they still reeked of old lady perfum. I re thrifted them

Vodka is basically ethanol (a type of alcohol) and water. Odor-causing chemicals will dissolve in it, but it might affect some colors. You could also use isopropyl alcohol I suppose, but it stinks and is more toxic.
