| I know good schools is subjective. My child has an IEP and I need a school that will treat her well and ideally will also challenge her academically. Where could we rent for that budget? |
| FCPS treats kids with IEPs terribly. |

Thank you very much for this. If this poster is still around, do you have any recommendations for areas/schools that don’t feed into McLean HS? I don’t think our children would fit in there very well because of our income. My impression is that it’s a very wealthy school. |
Look for rentals zoned for Marshall. We too did not want our kids going to McLean for the same reason. |
| Look in 22124, oakton school are good |
| Where do you work? Where are you coming from? FCPS is big, we need a starting point. |

How about this, with a roommate?

There are a lot of apartments that feed into McLean HS. That’s how PP found those two so quickly. Maybe you’re confusing McLean with Langley. Langley doesn’t have apartments. |
Good call. This is true. |
All this apartments are zoned for McLean, so their peers would be there. FWIW, my kids are zoned for Langley are we are feds (i.e, not rich, and living in a 1300 sq ft home), and it was fine. My kids had friends and got a great education. My youngest (now in middle school) has a 504 and the schools have been terrific with him. |
Thank you for your experience. However, we have half your income, I suspect. $180k total right now and may drop down to $90 in the future if one partner cannot work due to disability. We want to go ahead and start living on $90k if we can to save money and so that declining health doesn’t present an emergency for the kids. |
You will be fine at McLean. Sorry to hear about the disability. |
