NSA High School Work Study

Anonymous
My child is considering a high school internship senior year as an office assistant at the NSA. Has anyone's child done this internship? Did you feel it was a good experience and worth the time? Thanks in advance for any information or advice!

This would still require top secret clearance just to be in the bldg(s). I would think that alone would be a heck of an entry on the "honors/awards" section of college apps, irrespective of the experience gained.

The people I know who did this work at NSA now.

I would make sure they have the maturity and work ethic to handle this internship well, because it seems like the kind of thing you would not want to half-@$$ if you wanted to be anything vaguely government-related in the future!

I think that NSA hires a bunch of these young people. They are great positions, and they have the clearance!

Having a clearance isn't an honor or an award.
Colleges are not going to care about clearances.
